Harrison's Double-Double Leads Volleyball To Third Straight Victory With 3-0 Sweep At Pine Manor

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. --  Freshman Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.) notched a double-double effort of 15 digs and 10 kills to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Pine Manor Wednesday evening by game scores of 25-20, 25-22 and 30-28 in a match played at Brunelli Court.

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) added seven kills and six digs for the visiting Buccaneers (4-15), who also received 11 digs and four kills from freshman Michelle Sheehan (Attleboro, Mass.) in extending their winning streak to three straight.  Senior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) collected 22 set assists and six digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received five digs and a pair of kills from senior Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) as well as 20 digs and three service aces from freshman Christina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.).

 

Freshman Kendra Williams (San Diego, Calif.) posted a double-double performance of 12 kills and 14 digs in the setback for the host Gators (2-14), who also received eight kills from freshman Keisha Hadorn (Yokosuka, Japan).  Junior Ashley Whiteshield (Seward, Ak.) chipped in with 22 set assists, five digs and three kills for Pine Manor, which also received a combined 14 digs and six kills from junior Rachael Julien (Brockton, Mass.) and freshman Viyanni Johnson (Las Vegas, Nev.) to go with 26 digs from freshman Alexa Leon (El Centro, Calif.). 

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league tri-match with host WPI and Eastern Nazarene that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Pine Manor heads into Boston Saturday morning for a non-league tri-match with host Wentworth and Salem State beginning at 11:00 a.m.
