Massachusetts Maritime freshman outside hitter Marie Harrison was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for her efforts in four Buccaneer matches last week.

Harrison, a native of Weymouth, Mass. and a graduate of Weymouth High School, averaged 11 kills and 12 digs in the four contests, including a career-high 17 kills to go with 11 digs in a 3-1 setback to Lyndon State last Saturday.  Marie added another double-double effort of 14 kills and 13 digs in a 3-2 home setback to Becker last Tuesday evening, and she collected 12 digs and nine kills in yesterday’s 3-1 league setback to MCLA at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

On the season, Harrison ranks second on the team with 84 kills and 157 digs, and she is also third on with 12 service aces while playing in all 55 sets to date for Massachusetts Maritime.

Head Coach Melanie Appleman’s Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday evening with a MASCAC road clash at Framingham State that begins at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
