Geary Promoted To Position Of Head Volleyball Coach At Massachusetts Maritime

Buzzards Bay, Mass. --  Jenna-Lynn Geary, who has served for the past two seasons as an assistant volleyball coach at Massachusetts Maritime, has been promoted to the position of Head Volleyball Coach at the Academy.  Geary’s appointment, which is effective immediately, was announced today by Buccaneer Director of Athletics Garin Veris.

Geary, a former standout at Lasell College, has helped guide Massachusetts Maritime to its highest back-to-back season win totals in a decade over the last two campaigns.  She takes over for Melanie Appleman, who resigned from her position earlier this spring.

A native of Marion, Mass., Geary has assisted in all aspects of the Buccaneer program over the last two seasons, including recruiting and player development.  Jenna-Lynn has also served for the last four years as the head coach of the Southern Alliance U14-U18 club squad in Hanover, Mass. and last winter she directed the Massachusetts Maritime College Coaches Skill Camp that took place on campus.

“I’m very grateful to Garin Veris for the opportunity to lead this program, which has an incredibly bright future,” Geary said of her appointment.  “The commitment and hard work that our student-athletes have shown will continue to bring greater success in the years ahead, and I am honored to lead this outstanding group of young women.”

A 2012 graduate of Lasell, Geary was a four-year letterwinner for the Lasers and registered over 1,000 digs in her career.  She is an active participant in several playing leagues across the South Shore and is also a noted camp clinician and counselor in the area.

“Jenna-Lynn has played an important role in the continued growth and development of our volleyball program over the last two seasons, and I’m excited to welcome her as our new head coach,” Veris said of Geary’s appointment.  “Her knowledge, work ethic and passion make her the perfect person to guide our student-athletes to even greater heights in the future.”

Massachusetts Maritime begins the Jenna-Lynn Geary era on Saturday, September 2nd when the Buccaneers head to Bay Path for a tri-match with the host Wildcats and Johnson State at 10:00 a.m. EDT.
