Klangos, Harrison Combine For Six Kills As Volleyball Drops 3-0 MASCAC Decision At Framingham State

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --  Senior Julia Wan (South Deerfield, Mass.) registered nine kills, eight digs and six service aces to lead Framingham State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-10, 25-5 and 25-8 in a league match played Wednesday evening at the Athletic & Recreation Center.

 

Sophomore Casie Thurber (Springfield, Mass.) added eight kills in the triumph for the host Rams (10-5, 3-0 MASCAC), who also received a combined seven kills from junior Sarah Leonard (Southboro, Mass.) and freshman Deirdre Fay (Cornwall, N.Y.).  Sophomore Mackenzie Whalen (Norton, Mass.) collected 14 set assists for Framingham State, which also received 10 digs from freshman Alexandra Fish (Lincoln, R.I.) and five service aces from junior Vicki Anderson (Attleboro, Mass.).

 

Senior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) notched 11 digs and four kills in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-15, 0-2 MASCAC), who also received five digs and a pair of kills from freshman Marie Harrison (Weymouth, Mass.).  Senior Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) chipped in with six set assists and five digs from Massachusetts Maritime, while freshman Christina Ruggeri (Bourne, Mass.) recorded a match-high 13 digs for the visitors.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Pine Manor in a non-league doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 2:00 p.m., while Framingham State heads to Cambridge, Mass. for a non-league tri-match with Wheaton and host MIT on Saturday afternoon that begins at 1:00 p.m.
