Brain, Harris Each Record Pair Of Kills As Volleyball Drops MASCAC Finale At Salem State

SALEM, Mass. --  Junior Emily Peay (Lebanon, Conn.) registered 19 kills to lead Salem State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-18, 25-12 and 25-7 in a league match played Wednesday evening at Twohig Gymnasium.

 

Junior Sarah Collins (Grafton, Mass.) added three kills in the triumph for the host Vikings (4-12, 1-4 MASCAC), who clinched the sixth and final conference playoff berth with the win.  Junior Micaela Forcaciari (Plymouth, Mass.) collected 30 set assists and three service aces for Salem State, which also received seven digs from sophomore Jerika Santiago (Methuen, Mass.).

 

Sophomores Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) and Melissa Harris (Scituate, Mass.) each notched a pair of kills in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-24, 0-6 MASCAC), who also received four set assists and six digs from senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) as well as 10 digs from sophomore Stephanie O’Connor (Westwood, Mass.).

 

Tonight’s match was the season finale for Massachusetts Maritime, while Salem State heads to Beverly, Mass. on Saturday afternoon for a non-league tri-match with Curry and host Endicott that begins at 1:00 p.m.
