Weir Notches Three Kills And Four Digs As Volleyball Drops MASCAC Decision To Bridgewater State

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, R.I.) notched 14 kills and eight digs to lead Bridgewater State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-3, 25-14 and 25-11 in a league match played Wednesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

 

Sophomore Clara Goncalves (Dennis, Mass.) added eight kills and five digs in the triumph for the visiting Bears (12-6, 2-1 MASCAC), who also received eight kills and a pair of service aces from freshman Christina Jaros (Plymouth, Mass.), five kills from sophomore Samantha Richner (Hanson, Mass.) and six service aces, five digs and four kills from senior Sarah Mullarkey (Salem, Mass.).  Sophomore Charleyne Panner (Gilford, N.H.) recorded 34 set assists, five digs and four service aces for Bridgewater State, which also received nine digs from senior Lisa Vega (Milford, Mass.).

 

Senior Meghan Weir collected three kills and four digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-13, 0-3 MASCAC), who also received two kills, two service aces and four digs from junior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.).  Sophomore Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.) and freshman Becca Mello (Acushnet, Mass.) combined for seven set assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of service aces and three digs from senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Curry and host Pine Manor in a non-league tri-match that begins at 1:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State travels to Providence, R.I. on Friday afternoon to face both WPI and Coast Guard in opening round action of the Johnson & Wales Invitational beginning at 4:00 p.m.
