Brain, Harris Combine For Seven Kills As Volleyball Drops 3-0 Non-League Decision At Becker

LEICESTER, Mass. --  Sophomore Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) notched nine kills and four digs to lead Becker to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-9, 25-19 and 25-9 in a match played Tuesday evening at Leicester Gymnasium.

 

Freshman Kirsti Hadzewycz (Daytona Beach, Fla.) added eight service aces, eight digs and six kills in the triumph for the host Hawks (2-9), who also received four service aces and six digs from freshman Chase Peterson (Redding, Conn.) and four kills from junior Samantha Caouette (Montague, Mass.) to go with 12 set assists and five digs from freshman Charlene Landry (Gorham, Maine).

 

Sophomore Meaghan Brain (Hanson, Mass.) collected four kills, two service aces and a pair of digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-11), who also received three kills from sophomore Melissa Harris (Scituate, Mass.).  Junior Charleen Klangos (Lowell, Mass.) chipped in with 11 digs and two kills for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received five digs, four set assists and a pair of kills from senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Framingham, Mass. on Thursday evening to take on Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Becker hosts Worcester State in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at Leicester Gymnasium that begins at 7:00 p.m.
