Buccaneers Lose to Rams in Conference at Home

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Framingham State in conference play on Thursday night at Clean Harbors Stadium. The Bucs fell to the Rams by a final of 15-8.

In the Field

Maritime

  • Cassie Llewellyn scored four times to lead the Buccaneers.
  • Brady Deschamps scored twice, Grace Calvert and Lindsy Durgin each scored once.
  • Durgin recorded two assists, Llewellyn, Deschamps, and Paige Albertson all had one helper.
  • Llewellyn picked up a game-high eight ground balls and a team-high four draw controls and four caused turnovers.
  • In total, Maritime picked up 20 ground balls, were successful on 14-of-31 clears, won 10 draw controls, and took a total of 24 shots.

Framingham

  • Hannah Guerin scored a game-high six goals in the win.
  • Hailey Baker scored four goals, Regan Fein, and Rachel Erickson scored twice, Julianna Guzi netted one.
  • Fein and Erickson recorded two assists, Baker, Guerin, Maggie Grout, and Madison Skiff all had one assist.
  • Grount led the Rams in ground balls with seven.
  • Fein won a game-high 10 draw controls.  
  • Defensively, Grout caused four turnovers in the win.
  • In total, Framingham picked up 29 ground balls, were successful on 18-of-23 clears, won 17 draw controls, and took 34 total shots.

How It Happened

Framingham scored first 43 seconds into the game on Guerin's first goal. Calvert tied the game at 1-1 for the Bucs at 9:47. Framingham scored 20 seconds later to retake the lead, 2-1. The Rams went on to score three more in the quarter including with seven seconds remaining to take a 5-1 lead at the end of the first.

Maritime opened the second with three unanswered goals from Durgin, and two from Llewellyn to pull within one goal, 5-4. Framingham took more than 12 minutes to find the back of the net in the second and scored with 2:48 left in the half followed by three more goals in the final 1:50 of the second to take a 9-4 lead at the half.

In the third, Framingham extended their scoring run to six goals. Neither team scored until there was 3:39 left in the quarter when Baker scored for the Rams and Guerin scored at 2:30 to give the Rams an 11-4 lead. Llewellyn scored for the Bucs at 1:58 and Framingham led 11-5 going in to the fourth.

In the final quarter of play, Deschamps scored at 14:07 to pull within five, 11-6. Seven minutes later, Baker scored at 7:41 to make it 12-6. Dechamps scored her second at 5:14 which was followed by three Rams goals. Framingham led 15-7 with 37 seconds remaining. Llwellyn and the Buccaneers went down the field and scored once more with 17 seconds left. The Rams ran the clock out and left Buzzards Bay with a 15-8 win in conference over Maritime.

What's Next

The Buccaneers will take on Salem State at home on Saturday evening at 7pm in their final regular season game of the season. Saturday is also senior day at Clean Harbors Stadium for the three seniors on the Maritime roster.
