Buccaneers Cruise Past Trailblazers for MASCAC Victory

NORTH ADAMS, Mass -- Women's Lacrosse followed softball and baseball out to Western Mass on Saturday for their own conference game against MCLA. Capping off a great Saturday for the Buccaneers, women's lax were 16-1 victors over the Trailblazers.

In The Field

Maritime

  • Cassie Llewellyn led the game with five goals. Allie Dickinson wasn't far behind with four goals of her own.
  • Lindsy Durgin netted three goals in the win and Grace CalvertCaleigh TompkinsBrady Deschamps, and Paige Albertson all scored one.
  • Albertson assisted on four of the Bucs goals, Dickinson recorded three helpers, Calvert had two and Llewellyn recorded one assist.
  • Dickinson picked up a game-high six ground balls. 
  • Llewellyn won a game-high seven draw controls.
  • Defensively, Tompkins caused three turnovers.
  • In total, the Buccaneers picked up 27 ground balls, were successful on all 12 of their clear attempts, won 11 draw controls, and took a total of 36 shots.

MCLA

  • Julia Graham scored the lone goal for the Trailblazers.
  • Summer Nichols was credited with an assist on the goal.
  • Kirsten Barret picked up a team-high five ground balls.
  • Graham won a team-high five draw controls. 
  • In total, MCLA picked up 12 ground balls, were successful on 7-of-12 clear attempts, won 10 draw controls, and took a total of seven shots in the game.

How It Happened

Maritime scored their first goal at 12:04 of the first quarter on Llewellyn's first of the night. The Bucs went on to score five more in the first and led 6-0 after one quarter of play.

In the second, the Buccaneers scored two more from Durgin and Albertson and took an 8-0 advantage into the halftime break.

Maritime controlled all of the third quarter as well with five goals in the period and took a 13-0 lead into the fourth.

MCLA got their goal to open the fourth quarter scoring at 8:57 from Graham. The Bucs went on to score three more in the quarter from Llewellyn, Tompkins and Durgin to seal the 16-1 win over the Trailblazers.

Maritime is back on the road on Tuesday, April 25th for a conference game with Bridgewater State at 7pm.
