BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Amanda Bouchard (Lexington, Mass.) netted four goals and three assists for seven points to lead Westfield State to a 21-5 New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Owls (4-5, 3-0 NEWLA) ran their winning streak to three straight by scoring the first 12 goals of the contest, including four by junior Maura Stack (Wilbraham, Mass.) and two each by Bouchard and senior Genna Raffaelo (Chelmsford, Mass.), en route to a 13-2 advantage at the break.  Senior Nicole DiPilato (Shrewsbury, Mass.) added a hat trick and three assists for six points for Westfield State, which also received a hat trick and two helpers from Raffaelo to go with a pair of tallies and two assists from senior Carly Keeley (Feeding Hills, Mass.).  Stack added an assist to finish with five points as well for the visitors, who also received a pair of goals from freshman Bridget Everett (Lexington, Mass.) as well as single markers from sophomore Sarah Giardino (Foxboro, Mass.) and freshmen Olivia Murphy (Cohasset, Mass.) and Stephanie Lenhardt (Duxbury, Mass.) to go with a helper off the stick of freshman Courtney Byrne (Quincy, Mass.).

Sophomore Hillary Doucette (Manchester, Mass.) netted four goals in the setback for the host Buccaneers (2-7, 1-2 NEWLA), who also received a tally from junior Kim Courcy (Warwick, R.I.) as well as assists from senior Shauna Callinan (West Falmouth, Mass.) and junior Briana Bergstrom (Quincy, Mass.).  Freshman Hannah Joyce (Acton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Westfield State by making a first half save, while junior Jill Robinson (Salem, Mass.) had three second half stops for the Owls.  Freshman Tenley Gillett (Manchester, N.H.) made 11 saves in 41-plus minutes of action for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received three stops in 18-plus second half minutes from freshman Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.).  Westfield State outshot the Buccaneers by a 37-10 margin for the match while holding a 21-7 advantage in draw controls.

Massachusetts Maritime Head Coach Julie Rigo and Assistant Coach Kelsey Lareau were joined on the sidelines today by Student Head Coach Jacee Alves, a sixth grader at the Bourne Middle School, and his brother Jadyn, a fifth grader at the Bourne Middle School, who served as Student Assistant Coach for the Buccaneers.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Worcester State in a New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance match that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Westfield State hosts Salem State in a New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance outing on Thursday evening in Westfield, Mass. that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
