Courcy Named As NEWLA Rookie Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime junior midfielder Kim Courcy was named as the New England Women’s Lacrosse Alliance Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon for her performance in three matches for the Buccaneers last week.

A native of Warwick, R.I. and a graduate of Warwick High School, Courcy netted seven goals while adding nine ground balls, 11 draw controls and three caused turnovers on the week, as she scored a career-high five goals in Massachusetts Maritime’s 10-7 setback to Daniel Webster on March 19th.  Courcy leads the Buccaneers in scoring with 10 tallies in five contests to date, as she also paces Head Coach Julie Rigo’s squad with 19 draw controls, 16 ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Massachusetts Maritime, which is playing its inaugural varsity season this spring, returns to action on Thursday evening when the Buccaneers head to Boston to take on Wheelock in a non-league match that begins at 7:30 p.m.
