BOURNE, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team recorded a solid third place finish while serving as host as the Great Herring Pond Open over the weekend at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center.

Freshmen Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.) sailed in the “A” Division for the Buccaneers on both days of the event, while fellow freshmen Johnny Bishara (Saunderstown, R.I.) and Nicole Allen (Rochester, Mass.) comprised the “B” boat on Saturday.  Massachusetts Maritime stood in sixth place after the first day of racing with consistent top five finishes, and with junior Sean McLaughlin (Fairhaven, Mass.) teaming with Allen for four top five finishes in the B boat on Sunday, the Buccaneers jumped three places in the final standings.

Massachusetts Maritime is set to compete at Navy, MIT, Boston College, New Hampshire and Southern Maine in various events next weekend.
