BOURNE, Mass./DURHAM, N.H. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team placed sixth in hosting the Commonwealth Invitational over the weekend at Keith Hartford Sailing Center, as the Buccaneers also recorded an 11th place finish at the University of New Hampshire Chris Loder Trophy.

Perfect weather conditions were in order for both days of competition on Great Herring Pond, as freshmen Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and Nicole Allen (Rochester, Mass.) comprised the Massachusetts Maritime “A” division entry while fellow freshmen George Luber (North Redington Beach, Fla.) and Natalie Lu (Oak Hill, Va.) comprised the “B” boat on the opening day before taking the reins of the “A” entry on Sunday.  Allen teamed with freshman Johnny Bishara (Saunderstown, R.I.) in the “B” boat for the second day, as the Buccaneers climbed a spot from seventh place on Saturday to sixth overall to finish the competition.

Light winds and fog hampered conditions in the Granite State for the Chris Loder Trophy, as juniors Andrew Morgan (Jupiter, Fla.) and Camille Aiello (Hamden, Conn.) comprised Massachusetts Maritime’s “A” entry while senior Kaitlyn Nanartowich (Newport, R.I.) and sophomore Rob Queisser (Carmel, Ind.) competed in the “B” division.  The winds took their toll in allowing for just one race to be completed on the final day that gave the Buccaneers their 11th place standing.

Massachusetts Maritime has a busy schedule next weekend, as the Buccaneers will compete at the Navy Intrepid Trophy, the Boston College Women’s Singlehanded, the Salve Regina Women’s Olympians, the Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy and the Rhode Island Gardiner Island Invitational.
