Dinghy Sailing Battles Rain, Light Winds In Placing 14th At Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy

MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME SAILING

Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy

Saturday-Sunday, October 5-6, 2013

Hanover, N.H.

HANOVER, N.H. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team posted a 14th place overall team finish in competition over the weekend at the Dartmouth Hewitt Trophy in less than favorable racing conditions on both days.

Light winds on Saturday prevented any races from being completed, and rains moved in to hamper Sunday’s competition.  Freshmen Kyle Brego (St. John, Virgin Islands) and junior Camille Aiello (Hamden, Conn.) comprised the Buccaneer “A” entry, while fellow freshmen Rory Egan (West Barnstable, Mass.) and Natalie Lu (Oak Hill, Va.) were the in the “B” boat on Saturday, with freshman Evan Sampou (West Newbury, Mass.) taking over for Lu on Sunday.  All 10 races in the event took place on the second day in the rainy conditions.

Massachusetts Maritime will compete next weekend at the Storm Trysail Regatta, Roger Williams Southern Series Four and the Bates Protest Trophy.
