FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0, WORCESTER STATE 0 (DOUBLE OVERTIME)

WORCESTER, Mass. --  Sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made four saves to record his fifth shutout of the season as Massachusetts Maritime and Worcester State battled to a scoreless double overtime draw in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer match played Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.

Cohen made three stops in regulation to go with one save in the second extra session to notch his ninth career shutout in the tie for the visiting Buccaneers (5-5-1, 2-1-1 MASCAC), who at seven points are in a tie for second place in the league standings with MCLA and Framingham State.  Senior Emil Dedo (Worcester, Mass.) made five stops in the draw for the host Lancers (4-6-2, 1-2-1 MASCAC), who outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 15-11 margin overall while taking eight of the nine corner kicks for the contest.  Each team had three shots in the two overtime periods in their first meeting since last year’s conference semifinals.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts fourth-ranked Brandeis in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Worcester State entertains Western New England in a non-league match on Wednesday evening at Coughlin Field that also begins at 7:00 p.m.
