FINAL:              #7 BRANDEIS 3, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Tyler Savonen (Orleans, Mass.) scored a pair of goals, while sophomore Zach Vieira (Andover, Mass.) added a goal and an assist to lead seventh-ranked Brandeis to a 3-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Savonen gave the visiting Judges (12-1) the only goal they would need 9:47 into the contest on a feed from freshman Christian Hernandez (Revere, Mass.), and he extended Brandeis’s advantage to 2-0 less than nine minutes later on a pass from Vieira that came from the right side of the net for his team-leading seventh tally of the season.  Vieira provided an insurance marker in the 59th minute for the Judges, as he converted a feed from junior Josh Hacunda (Hopkinton, Mass.) for his fifth goal of the fall that closed out the scoring.

Senior Joe Graffy (Concord, N.H.) picked up his 12th win of the year without having to make a save over the first 70-plus minutes of play in goal for Brandeis, which received a pair of stops from freshman Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn.) over the final 19-plus minutes of action for the combined shutout.  Sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made six saves in the setback for the host Buccaneers (5-6-1), as the Judges outshot Massachusetts Maritime by an 11-3 margin overall (9-2 on goal) while holding a 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Brandeis hosts Carnegie Mellon in a University Athletic Association match on Friday afternoon in Waltham, Mass. that begins at 5:00 p.m.
