Cohen Earns Second Straight Nod As MASCAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore goalkeeper Joe Cohen earned his second straight nod as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, as he shared this week’s accolade with Fitchburg State’s Aidan Hanratty after solid performances in a pair of Buccaneer contests last week.

A native of Plymouth, Mass. and a graduate of Plymouth South High School, Cohen posted an 0.48 goals against average and stopped 18 of 19 shots faced for a .947 saves percentage, including five saves for his third shutout of the season (fifth of his career) in a 4-0 MASCAC victory over Salem State last Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.  Cohen set a new career high with 13 stops last Wednesday afternoon in a 1-0 overtime setback at unbeaten Nichols, topping the previous mark of 11 he set on September 13th at WPI that helped him earn the conference’s top weekly honor last Monday.

On the season, Cohen has notched an 0.64 goals against average and a .914 saves percentage, as he has stopped 45 of 49 shots faced and recorded three shutout triumphs.  Head Coach Greg Perry’s Buccaneers continue a three-match home stand on Wednesday evening when Massachusetts Maritime hosts Anna Maria in a non-league outing at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
