Parker Named As MASCAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week, Becomes Buccaneers' Third Straight League Honoree

Massachusetts Maritime junior midfielder Nick Parker was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday morning for his efforts in a pair of Buccaneer home victories last week.

A native of Plymouth, Mass. and a graduate of Plymouth South High School, Parker netted four goals in the two matches, including his first career hat trick in a 4-0 non-league triumph over Anna Maria last Wednesday evening before tallying the first goal of the contest in a 3-1 MASCAC win over Fitchburg State last Friday night at Clean Harbors Stadium.  Parker leads the conference in goals scored with five on the young season and ranks second in the league with 11 total points in eight matches played to date.

Parker becomes Massachusetts Maritime’s third straight MASCAC Player of the Week honoree in men’s soccer, as Buccaneer sophomore goalkeeper Joe Cohen, who was also Parker’s teammate at Plymouth South High, copped the accolade on both September 15th and 22nd.  Cohen ranks 11th nationally in goals against average at 0.61 and also leads the conference with a .921 saves percentage.

Massachusetts Maritime is off to a 5-3 overall start under 22nd-year Head Coach Greg Perry and has opened MASCAC play at 2-0 for the first time in 15 years.  The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday afternoon by heading to Newport, R.I. to take on Salve Regina in a non-league match that begins at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
