Cohen Named As MASCAC Men's Soccer Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime sophomore goalkeeper Joe Cohen was named as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for his efforts in a pair of Buccaneer contests last week.

 

A native of Plymouth, Mass. and a graduate of Plymouth South High School, Cohen posted an 0.92 goals against average while making 19 saves for a .905 saves percentage for the Buccaneers, including eight stops for his sixth career shutout in a 2-0 victory at Wentworth last Wednesday evening.  Cohen added a career-high 11-save effort in a 2-1 double overtime setback at unbeaten WPI last Saturday.

 

A three-time selection as MASCAC Rookie of the Week last fall, Cohen sports an 0.72 goals against average on the season to date, as he has made 19 saves for a .900 saves percentage while recording a pair of shutout triumphs.

 

Massachusetts Maritime wraps up a four-match road trip on Wednesday afternoon by heading to Dudley, Mass. to take on Nichols in a non-league outing that begins at 4:00 p.m. EDT, and Head Coach Greg Perry’s Buccaneers open MASCAC play on Friday evening by hosting Salem State in a league clash at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
