FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2, FRAMINGHAM STATE 0

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. --  Goals by juniors Connor McInnis (Duxbury, Mass.) and Nick Parker (Plymouth, Mass.) in the opening 18-plus minutes of action lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 2-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men’s soccer victory over Framingham State Saturday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

McInnis gave the visiting Buccaneers (6-7-1, 3-2-1 MASCAC) the only tally they would need just 4:49 into the contest on a header off freshman Chris Beaulieu’s (Carver, Mass.) corner kick for his third goal of the season, and Parker took a clearing pass from sophomore goalkeeper Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) to net his team-leading sixth marker of the fall in the 19th minute to cap the scoring and give Massachusetts Maritime its first victory over the host Rams (4-10-2, 2-3-1 MASCAC) in 10 years, as the last Buccaneer triumph in the series came in a 3-1 win on October 11, 2004 in Buzzards Bay.  The result also leaves the visitors in sole possession of second place in the league standings into the final weekend of regular season play, as Massachusetts Maritime is three points shy of first place Bridgewater State.

Cohen picked up his sixth victory and shutout of the season with a seven save effort in net for Massachusetts Maritime, while sophomore Jacob Nichols (Sturbridge, Mass.) made a pair of stops in goal in the setback for Framingham State.  The Rams outshot the Buccaneers by a 17-13 margin (7-4 on goal) for the contest while also holding a 7-4 edge in corner kicks on the day.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts UMass Boston in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Framingham State heads to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Clark in a non-league match that begins at 6:00 p.m.
