Robbs, Kinsman Named As 2014 Buccaneer Men's Soccer Captains

Last season provided magic and memories for the Massachusetts Maritime men’s soccer team, which earned the first post-season berth and victory in program history.  The Buccaneers are looking to build upon that 2013 success under veteran Head Coach Greg Perry, who announced today that seniors Rob Robbs and Stuart Kinsman will serve as team co-captains in 2014.

Robbs, a native of Braintree, Mass. and a graduate of Braintree High School, has earned all-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference accolades in each of the past two seasons in the midfield, as he netted a goal and two assists for four points last fall while starting 18 of 19 contests.  Kinsman, a native of Granville, Mass. and a graduate of Southwick-Tolland High School, was limited to 12 appearances with one start due to injury a year ago, as he contributed an assist up front for the Buccaneers.

“One of the great aspects of coaching is seeing young men come in as freshmen and develop into leaders by example, and both Rob and Stuart are perfect examples of that,” Perry, who enters his 22nd season as the “dean” of MASCAC mentors, says of his captains.  “They know what my expectations are for them as student-athletes, and they will represent the program with class, dignity and integrity.”

Massachusetts Maritime, which posted eight overall victories that included a MASCAC quarterfinal round triumph over Salem State, opens the 2014 campaign on Wednesday, September 3rd when the Buccaneers host Becker in a non-league match at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
