Men's Soccer Picked Fourth In 2014 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll

Men's Soccer Picked Fourth In 2014 MASCAC Pre-Season Coaches Poll

If the MASCAC coaches are correct, the Massachusetts Maritime men’s soccer team will be part of the league’s post-season for a second straight season this fall, as the Buccaneers are picked to finish fourth in the final standings in the conference’s pre-season prognostications.

Head Coach Greg Perry’s squad finished with eight overall victories in 2013, as Massachusetts Maritime claimed the first post-season triumph in school history last November with a 1-0 MASCAC quarterfinal round win over Salem State.  The Buccaneers, who collected 24 points in the pre-season poll, return 12 letterwinners and six starters to the fold for the 2014 campaign, which begins next Wednesday, September 3rd with a non-league home clash against Becker at Clean Harbors Stadium at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Defending conference tournament champion Bridgewater State, who the Buccaneers bested by a 1-0 overtime road final last October 19th, was selected to capture the MASCAC regular season crown this fall, while Framingham State and defending regular season champion Worcester State followed.  Westfield State and Salem State were behind Massachusetts Maritime in fifth and sixth place, while MCLA and Fitchburg State round out the poll in the seventh and eighth spots.
