FINAL:              UMASS DARTMOUTH 1, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0 (DOUBLE OVERTIME)

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior J.B. Macaroco’s (New Bedford, Mass.) goal with 38 seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted UMass Dartmouth to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Macaroco converted a corner kick from sophomore Matt Vidal (New Bedford, Mass.) on the golden goal for the visiting Corsairs (5-5-1), as his third tally of the year gave UMass Dartmouth its second straight double overtime win.  The host Buccaneers (5-5) took eight of the nine shots between the two teams in the final 45 minutes of regulation as well as the first overtime period, but the Corsairs had all four shots in the second extra session in claiming their triumph.

Sophomore Andrew Deane (Woburn, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for UMass Dartmouth with a six-save effort, including a pair of point blank stops in the second half of regulation, while sophomore Joe Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) made five saves in suffering the setback for Massachusetts Maritime.  The Buccaneers outshot the Corsairs by a 13-10 margin while taking 12 of the 13 corner kicks for the contest, as four of the hosts’ five setbacks this season have come in overtime.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at 4:00 p.m., while UMass Dartmouth hosts Keene State in a Little East Conference match on Saturday afternoon in North Dartmouth, Mass. beginning at 3:00 p.m.
