Klose, Anderson And Hastings Named To 2016 NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Academic All-Conference Team

Three members of the Massachusetts Maritime men’s lacrosse team earned spots on the 2016 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference squad that was released earlier today by the league office.

Senior James Klose (Ellicott City, Md./Mount Saint Joseph), junior Steven Anderson (Crownsville, Md./Annapolis Area Christian) and sophomore Samuel Hastings (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) represented the Buccaneers on this year’s NEWMAC Academic All-Conference team, which honors student-athletes who have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2015 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at his institution and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.  MIT placed 15 student-athletes on the 2016 NEWMAC Men’s Lacrosse Academic All-Conference team, while Springfield (11), Clark (4), Massachusetts Maritime, Wheaton (3), Coast Guard (2) and Babson (1) followed.

Head Coach Rory Deegan’s Buccaneers, who have amassed five overall victories to date, enter the final week of the regular season just one game in back of the final NEWMAC playoff spot, as Massachusetts Maritime returns to action Wednesday evening by hosting rival Coast Guard in a league outing at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

The New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference consists of 11 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence.  Massachusetts Maritime is an associate member of the league and participates in the sport of men’s lacrosse along with Babson College, Clark University, the United States Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Springfield College and Wheaton College.
