BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Ted Powers (Marshfield, Mass.) netted four goals and a pair of assists for six points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 16-6 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Maine Maritime in the annual Admiral’s Cup match played Sunday morning at Clean Harbors Stadium, as the contest came in the final round of the Third Annual Maritime Lacrosse Classic.

 

Freshman Cody Livermore (Ludlow, Mass.) collected a hat trick in the opening 28-plus minutes of play to help stake the host Buccaneers (3-1) to an 8-2 advantage at the break, and Massachusetts Maritime sealed its fifth straight Admiral’s Cup triumph with six third quarter tallies that included a pair by Powers and a hat trick off the stick of senior Reed McLean (Wilbraham, Mass.), who added an assist to finish with four points on the day.

 

Sophomore Keaghan Bartley (Richmond, Va.) chipped in with a pair of markers and a helper for three points for the hosts, who also received a goal and two assists from junior Ryan McNeill (Burlington, Mass.).  Senior Anthony Kurylak (Exeter, N.H.), along with juniors Steven Anderson (Crownsville, Md.) and Patrick Kearney (Scituate, Mass.), netted a goal and an assist each for the Buccaneers, who also received single helpers off the sticks of junior Conor Greaney (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore Robert Steinweg (Arnold, Md.).

 

Freshman Brendan Broderick (Massena, N.Y.) notched a hat trick and an assist in the setback for the visiting Mariners (0-3), who also received a pair of tallies from senior Tim Grant (East Northport, N.Y.) and a single marker from sophomore Alex Grant-Roy (Biddeford, Maine).  Senior Michael Dedian (Scarborough, Maine) collected an assist for Maine Maritime, which also received a helper off the stick of freshman Grafton Page (Melbourne Beach, Fla.).

 
 

Senior James Klose (Ellicott City, Md.) picked up the win in goal with seven saves in the first three quarters of play for Massachusetts Maritime, while freshman Cody Schell (Pasadena, Md.) made a career-high 22 stops in the setback for Maine Maritime.  The Buccaneers outshot the Mariners by a 58-17 margin overall (38-13 on goal) and forced 31 turnovers for the contest.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Plymouth State in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Maine Maritime entertains Curry in a non-league match on Wednesday afternoon in Castine, Maine that begins at 3:00 p.m.
