McLean Nets Five Goals As Men's Lacrosse Drops 11-7 Non-League Decision To Plymouth State

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Galen Antolino (Exeter, N.H.) netted a hat trick and an assist for four points to lead Plymouth State to an 11-7 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The visiting Panthers (1-3) overcame an early 1-0 deficit with five unanswered goals over a 10:25 stretch to build a 5-2 advantage at the break, but the host Buccaneers (3-2) closed back to within one at 5-4 on senior Anthony Kurylak’s (Exeter, N.H.) marker with 5:50 remaining in the third quarter.  The teams traded two goals each before Plymouth State iced its triumph with four more unanswered tallies in a 5:32 stretch of the final stanza, as a pair of goals off the stick of sophomore Cam Cormier (Auburn, Maine) helped seal the visitors’ victory.

 

Junior Pete Allen (Newbury, N.H.) joined Antolino in notching a hat trick in the win for the Panthers, who also received a marker and three assists from senior Phil Pichel (Hopkinton, Mass.).  Senior Ryan Garland (Franklin, Mass.) and junior Alex Croatti (Brunswick, Maine) also tallied for Plymouth State, which received a single helper off the stick of junior Mac Tetreault (New Durham, N.H.).

 

Senior Reed McLean (Wilbraham, Mass.) netted a game-high five goals in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a marker from junior Joseph Landy (Chatham, N.J.).  Junior Steven Anderson (Crownsville, Md.) and freshman Cody Livermore (Ludlow, Mass.) collected two assists each for the Buccaneers, who also received a helper from Kurylak.

 

Junior Jayson LaRiviere (Chelmsford, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Plymouth State with a 12-save effort, while senior James Klose (Ellicott City, Md.) made 13 stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Panthers outshot the Buccaneers by a 31-27 margin overall in claiming their seventh straight victory in the series between the two schools.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Anna Maria in a non-league outing on Saturday morning at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Plymouth State will be idle until Friday, March 25th when the Panthers head to Henniker, N.H. to take on New England College in a non-league match that begins at 4:00 p.m.
