FINAL:              REGIS 11, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 7

WESTON, Mass. --  Sophomore AJ Karofsky (Barrington, R.I.) netted five goals and an assist for six points to lead Regis to an 11-7 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Wednesday afternoon at Regis Stadium.

Karofsky tallied twice in the opening 17-plus minutes of play to help the host Pride (7-3) overcome an early 1-0 deficit and take a 3-1 advantage with 12:40 remaining in the opening half, but the visiting Buccaneers (5-5) received a pair of second quarter scores from senior Reed McLean (Wilbraham, Mass.) to close back to within one (4-3) at the break.  Regis used goals from Karofsky and senior Nicky Rodrigo (Miami, Fla.) in the first 5:10 after intermission to build a 6-4 advantage heading into the final stanza, and the hosts scored four of the final six markers of the match, including two more off the stick of Karofsky, to account for the final margin.

Rodrigo and sophomore Danny Rancano (Miami, Fla.) each netted two goals and an assist in the victory for the Pride, which also received a marker and two helpers from sophomore Calvin Brault (Colchester, Vt.).  Junior Alex Ferran (Miami, Fla.) accounted for the other score of the afternoon for Regis, which also received an assist off the stick of senior Andrew O’Reilly (Hollis, N.H.).

McLean netted his sixth hat trick of the season in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a pair of tallies from freshman Ted Powers (Marshfield, Mass.).  Juniors Patrick Kearney (Scituate, Mass.) and Ryan McNeill (Burlington, Mass.) also netted goals for the Buccaneers, who received assists from sophomore Keaghan Bartley (Richmond, Va.) and freshman Cody Livermore (Ludlow, Mass.).

Junior D.J. Barrile (Medford, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with a 12-save effort for Regis, while senior James Klose (Ellicott City, Md.) made six stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime as the Buccaneers outshot the Pride by a 38-35 margin overall, including a 19-17 margin on goal.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Springfield in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Regis heads to Leicester, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Becker in a New England Collegiate Conference Clash that also begins at 1:00 p.m.
