McLean Nets Hat Trick, Helper As Men's Lacrosse Drops 16-5 NEWMAC Decision To Babson

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Senior Spencer Low (Natick, Mass.) netted a hat trick and an assist for four points to lead Babson to a 16-5 New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The visiting Beavers (4-7, 2-1 NEWMAC) jumped out to an early 3-0 advantage before the host Buccaneers (5-8, 1-2 NEWMAC) closed back to within one on senior Reed McLean’s (Wilbraham, Mass.) goal with 2:13 remaining in the opening stanza, but Babson ran off eight unanswered tallies in the second and third quarters in grabbing a 6-2 edge at the break and an 11-2 lead heading into the final 15 minutes of action.  Sophomore Axel Brown (Little Compton, R.I.) and freshman Niall Dillon (Duxbury, Mass.) each collected two goals and a pair of assists in the triumph for the Beavers, who also received two tallies and a helper off the stick of freshman Brendan Duffy (Duxbury, Mass.).  Senior Scott Doten (Western Springs, Ill.) added a goal and four assists to finish with a game-high five points for the visitors, who also received a marker and helper each from senior John Harrison (Pembroke, Mass.) and sophomore Jason Cox (Westwood, Mass.).  Juniors Connor Flaherty (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) and Thomas Daly (Wantagh, N.Y.) also netted goals for Babson, which also received tallies off the sticks of sophomore Austin Fabel (East Rockaway, N.Y.) and freshman Brett Bottomley (Mercer Island, Wash.).

 

McLean netted a hat trick and an assist to finish with four points in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received goals from junior Joseph Landy (Chatham, N.J.) and freshman Brendan Kelly (Drexel Hill, Pa.).  Senior Anthony Kurylak (Exeter, N.H.) chipped in with an assist for the Buccaneers, who also received helpers off the sticks of juniors Steven Anderson (Crownsville, Md.) and Ryan McNeill (Burlington, Mass.) as well as freshman Steven Sullivan (West Islip, N.Y.).

 

Freshman Kenan Glasgold (Princeton, N.J.) earned his first career victory with an eight-save effort in goal over the first 51-plus minutes of play for Babson, which also received a pair of stops in the closing eight-plus minutes from junior Grant Masingill (Victor, N.Y.).  Senior James Klose (Eillcott City, Md.) made nine saves in 55 minutes of action in net for Massachusetts Maritime, as the Beavers outshot the Buccaneers by a 43-28 margin for the contest.

 

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Worcester, Mass. on Wednesday evening to take on Clark in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference match that begins at 7:00 p.m., while Babson hosts Roger Williams in a non-league outing Sunday afternoon in Babson Park, Mass. beginning at 1:00 p.m.
