NEW LONDON, Conn. --  The Massachusetts Maritime sailing team began the spring portion of its 2012-13 season over the weekend with competition at the UConn Trophy that took place on the Thames River.

Junior Kaitlyn Nanartowich (Newport, R.I.) and sophomore Sean McLaughlin (Fairhaven, Mass.) competed in the “A” division for the Buccaneers, while the tandem of sophomore Camille Aiello (Hamden, Conn.) and freshman Robert Queisser (Carmel, Ind.) sailed in the “B” division.  The quartet recorded several top 10 finishes as variable weather conditions prevailed throughout the weekend, as Massachusetts Maritime finished 13th overall out of 16 teams competing in the event.

The Buccaneers will compete next weekend at the MIT Central Series One and Salve Regina Veitor Trophy Regattas.
