Dinghy Sailing Records Solid Runner-Up Finish At Great Herring Pond Invitational

BOURNE, Mass.. --  The Massachusetts Maritime dinghy sailing team recorded a solid second place finish during weekend competition at the inaugural Great Herring Pond Invitational at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center, as the Buccaneers recorded an 8-4 mark in the 12 races held on Herring Pond.

 

Senior Michael Reney (Duxbury, Mass.), along with sophomores Daniel Barry (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Sean McLaughlin (Fairhaven, Mass.), served as skippers in the team competition for Massachusetts Maritime, while the crews were comprised of junior Kaitlyn Nanartowich (Newport, R.I.), sophomore Matthew Ferlotti (Fairfax, Va.) and freshman Leah Saunders (Rochester, Mass.).  The two round-robin competitions came in breeze of up to eight knots that came from different directions throughout the day.

 

Tufts took top honors in the event with an 11-1 mark, while the Buccaneers topped Division I foes Northeastern (6-6) and New Hampshire (0-12) as well as Bates (5-7).

 

Massachusetts Maritime will host the 28th Annual Admiral Alymer’s Trophy next weekend (April 6-7) at the Keith Hartford Sailing Center beginning at 9:30 a.m.
