Levesque Named To NSCAA Women's Soccer New England All-Region Team For Third Straight Season
Massachusetts Maritime women’s soccer senior goalkeeper Katie Levesque added another accolade to her already impressive career resume today, as she was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-New England Region team for the third straight year.
Levesque, a native of Wilmot, N.H. and a graduate of Kearsarge Regional High School, was tabbed to the NSCAA Third Team all-regional squad after wrapping up a record-breaking career this fall. Katie became the second female student-athlete in school history to earn four berths on the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference all-league team with her third straight first-team selection following the 2015 season, and she is the only soccer student-athlete (male or female) to earn all-regional recognition on three occasions. Tomorrow afternoon, Levesque will represent the Buccaneers as the first player in the program’s eight year varsity history to be selected to play in the New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl Game at Merrimack College, as she is the lone MASCAC representative on the Division III squad.
Levesque, who along with MCLA senior back Alexis Anderson represented the MASCAC on this year’s NSCAA all-regional team, recorded four victories and three shutouts while making 125 saves during the 2015 campaign, as she played over 1,322 minutes of action during the year. She holds every goalkeeping record in school history after playing nearly 5,400 minutes and making 620 saves over the course of 60 career matches, including single-season marks of 175 saves and six shutouts during her sophomore season of 2013. Katie also set the single-match record of 27 stops against Westfield State during that same fall campaign two years ago, and she led the league in saves for three of her four seasons of action.
Massachusetts Maritime tied the school single-season mark for victories under fifth-year Head Coach Ray Cabral this past fall, three of which came via shutout.
