FINAL:              ANNA MARIA 2, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

PAXTON, Mass. --  Sophomore Ashley Bottis (Rutland, Mass.) netted a pair of first half goals to lead Anna Maria to a 2-0 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Saturday afternoon at Amcat Field.

Bottis gave the host Amcats (1-1) the only goal they would need with an unassisted tally just 1:58 into the contest, and she provided an insurance marker (also unassisted) with 4:34 remaining in the opening 45 minutes of play to close out the scoring.  Sophomore Kate Kneeland (Windham, Maine) took care of the rest in goal for Anna Maria, as she made eight saves, including five in the second half, to record the shutout triumph.

Senior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made six saves in suffering the setback in goal for the visiting Buccaneers (0-2), as Massachusetts Maritime outshot the Amcats by a 20-12 margin overall and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until next Saturday afternoon when the Buccaneers host SUNY-Maritime in a non-league match at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m., while Anna Maria heads to Nashua, N.H. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Daniel Webster in a non-league outing that begins at 4:00 p.m.
