Levesque Selected To Play In 2015 NEWISA Senior Bowl Game December 5th At Merrimack

Massachusetts Maritime senior goalkeeper Katie Levesque has been selected to play in the 2015 New England Women’s Intercollegiate Soccer Association’s (NEWISA) Senior Bowl Game on Saturday, December 5th at Merrimack College’s Martone-Mejail Field in North Andover, Mass.

Levesque, a native of Wilmot, N.H. and a graduate of Kearsarge Regional High School, wrapped up a record-breaking career this fall by earning first team all-Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for a third straight season and her fourth all-league selection overall, as she joined Buccaneer Hall of Famer Melissa DeValles ’03 as the only female athletes in school history to earn four all-conference accolades.  Katie becomes the first player in the program’s eight year varsity history to earn a spot on the Division III Senior Bowl roster, and she is the only MASCAC representative on this year’s squad.

A two-time NSCAA all-New England Region honoree, Levesque recorded four victories and three shutouts while making 125 saves during the 2015 campaign and played over 1,322 minutes of action during the year.  She holds every goalkeeping record in school history after playing nearly 5,400 minutes and making 620 saves over the course of 60 career matches, including single-season marks of 175 saves and six shutouts during her sophomore season of 2013.  Katie also set the single-match record of 27 stops against Westfield State during that same fall campaign two years ago, and she led the league in saves for three of her four seasons of action.

The 2015 NEWISA Senior Bowl begins at Noon EST, as Levesque will join 21 other student-athletes representing 17 Division III institutions.

Massachusetts Maritime tied the school single-season mark for victories under fifth-year Head Coach Ray Cabral this past fall, three of which came via shutout.
