FINAL:              FISHER 3, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 2

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Madison O’Brien’s (Shrewsbury, Mass.) goal with 31 seconds remaining lifted Fisher to a 3-2 non-league college women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

O’Brien took a cross from sophomore Julia Schojan (Rochester, N.Y.) on the deciding marker for the visiting Falcons (4-4), as she converted from 10 yards out for her first collegiate tally that proved to be the golden goal.  Schojan had given Fisher an early 1-0 advantage in the 22nd minute when she converted a breakaway from freshman Amanda Santiago (Saugus, Calif.) for her 15th goal of the season, but the host Buccaneers (2-6) evened matters with 2:05 remaining in the opening half on sophomore Stephanie Hunt’s (Brookfield, Conn.) first tally of the season, a direct kick from 25 yards out.  Freshman Mariah Teixeira (Berkley, Mass.) gave the Falcons a 2-1 cushion in the 57th minute on a feed from Schojan from 10 yards out for her first collegiate marker, but Hunt evened matters once again for Massachusetts Maritime with just over 10 minutes to play by converting a rebound of junior Natalie Lu’s (Oak Hill, Va.) original shot, setting up O’Brien’s last second heroics.

Sophomore Paige Ciavarro (Lynnfield, Mass.) picked up her fourth win of the season in goal for Fisher with a nine save effort, while senior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made six stops in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime.  The Buccaneers outshot the Falcons by a 15-12 margin overall (11-9 on goal), as the visitors posted their first series triumph in three meetings with the hosts dating back to 2013.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Salem, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing that begins at 3:00 p.m., while Fisher hosts Pine Manor in a non-league match tomorrow afternoon in Medford, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
