BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Amanda Leite (New Bedford, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist to lead Bridgewater State to a 4-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

The visiting Bears (5-3, 2-0 MASCAC) used a pair of goals off set pieces by senior Brooke Pacheco (Bristol, R.I.) and Leite in the 19th and 22nd minutes of play to take a 2-0 advantage, and senior Marissa Yowell (Ashland, Mass.) extended that margin to 3-0 with 3:21 remaining in the opening half by converting a breakaway for her team-leading fourth tally of the fall.  Freshman Caitlin Rowley (Lakeville, Mass.) collected the final marker for Bridgewater State in the 72nd minute, as she converted a feed from freshman Taylor Loyd (Bridgewater, Mass.) for her third goal of the season that closed out the scoring.

Leite and junior Allyson Pontes (Dartmouth, Mass.) earned assists off the respective corner kick goals for the Bears, while senior Carolyn Sessler (Plymouth, Mass.) set up Yowell’s tally.  Sophomore Lauren DeSousa (Taunton, Mass.) earned her fifth shutout win of the season in goal by making one save for Bridgewater State, while senior Katie Levesque (Wilmot, N.H.) made six stops in the setback for the host Buccaneers (2-5, 0-2 MASCAC).  The Bears outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 13-2 margin overall (10-1 on goal) and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fisher in a non-league outing on Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State heads to North Dartmouth, Mass. on Wednesday evening to square off with UMass Dartmouth in a non-league match that also begins at 7:00.
