Pelletier Notches Four Kills, Four Digs And Pair Of Aces As Volleyball Drops 3-0 Non-League Decision To Lesley

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Megan Ortwein (Shanghai, China) registered nine kills and 11 digs to lead Lesley to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening by game scores of 25-13, 25-7 and 25-11 in a match played at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

Freshman Danielle Johnson (Waterford, Conn.) added seven kills and 14 digs in the triumph for the visiting Lynx (8-15), who also received 17 set assists and six service aces from junior Kaitlyn Miller (Leesport, Pa.) to go with nine digs and four service aces from senior Kayla Henry (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and 20 digs from freshman Rachel Frederickson (Marstons Mills, Mass.).

Freshman Kelsey Pelletier (Bristol, Conn.) notched four kills, four digs and a pair of service aces in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-26), who also received two kills and three digs from junior Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) as well as seven digs from sophomore Michaela Garrity (Tiverton, R.I.).  Freshman Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) added seven digs and six set assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received four digs from freshman Lauren O’Shaughnessy (Yarmouthport, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Nashua, N.H. on Saturday afternoon to close out its 2011 campaign with tri-match action, as the Buccaneers will square off with host Rivier in a non-league outing and take on Westfield State in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference play beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Lesley hosts Newbury in its New England Collegiate Conference finale Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass. beginning at Noon.
