Women's Soccer: Bucs and MCLA Draw in MASCAC Matchup

NORTH ADAMS, Mass -- Saturday afternoon, women's soccer traveled to Western Mass for a conference matchup with the MCLA Trailblazers. The Buccaneers took a lead in the first half that was erased in the second and the game ended in a 1-1 draw with each team picking up a point in the MASCAC standings.

Senior Captain Julia Podchaiski scored the goal, her second of the season. Ariel Damery and Brady Deschamps were credited with assists on the goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Reagan Kerecz made three saves in the draw and allowed the MCLA goal.

Savanna Amaral was the goal scorer for the Trailblazers. The assist on the goal came from Anna Lewis. Goalkeeper Jilliam Currier was peppered with Maritime shots in the game and made 12 saves, allowing the Podchaiski goal.

Maritime took five shots in the first half and Podchaiski made one count as she scored in the 33rd minute to put the Buccaneers up 1-0. The Bucs took the lead into the halftime break.

In the second half, the Bucs held on to their 1-0 lead for 15 minutes, then came Amaral's goal in the 61st minute to tie the game up. Maritime took 16 shots in the second half and couldn't find the back of the net. The teams finished in a 1-1 draw.

The Buccaneers are back home for their next game on Friday, October 7th at 7pm against Westfield State at Clean Harbors Stadium.
