Preview: Women's Soccer

The Buccaneer women's soccer team, coming off of a 2-10-2 season in 2021, are ramping up for the 2022 season on Taylor's Point.

First-year head coach and former Buccaneer, Lauren Salem welcomes back a strong core of players, including captains Julia Podchaiski and Julia Quindley. Pods had a solid year in the midfeld in 2021 though she only recorded one assist with no goals. Quindley, from her centerback position in 2021, has been an anchor for the squad and will continue in that role this season. Last year, Q scored twice, including a game winner, and recorded two assists.

Also back for the Bucs are the Damery Sisters, Ari Damery and Jackie Damery. In her freshman season in 2019, Ari scored three times with atwo assists. Jackie been an integral part of the team's midfield for two seasons.

Along with a host of other young players, Coach Salem welcomes a group of freshman, including two goalkeepers, who will surely impact the team right off the bat.

The Bucs will open their 2022 campaign on the road againt Dean College on Saturday, September 3rd. They will play their home opener two days later on Labor day against UMPI, a team the Buccaneers beat in 2021, at 12pm.
