BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Megan Brown (Dartmouth, Mass.) registered 25 kills and four service aces to lead Worcester State to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime and a 3-1 triumph over MCLA in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball tri-match Saturday afternoon at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.  MCLA also collected a 3-0 victory over the host Buccaneers in the final contest of the day.

Junior Kristen Koles (Billerica, Mass.) added 10 kills for the Lancers (9-7, 2-0 MASCAC) in the second win of the day against MCLA, which came by game scores of 14-25, 25-15, 25-17 and 25-17.  Sophomore Jodi Hallett (Gill, Mass.) notched a combined 40 set assists on the day for Worcester State, which also received a combined 25 digs from junior Joanne Grenier (Orange, Mass.).

Freshman Kristen Robillard (Swansea, Mass.) registered 33 set assists and 11 digs on the afternoon for MCLA’s Trailblazers (8-2, 1-1 MASCAC), who also received 10 kills from junior Kayla Bromback (Lee, Mass.) in the setback to Worcester State and six kills from senior Amanda Borsotti (Lee, Mass.) in the nightcap triumph over Massachusetts Maritime, which came by game scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-15.

Senior Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass.) notched a combined 11 kills and eight digs in the setbacks for the host Buccaneers (1-13, 0-3 MASCAC), who fell to Worcester State in the opening contest by game scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-9.  Freshman Kelly Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) added five kills on the day for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received four kills each from sophomores Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.) and Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) as well as 11 set assists each from senior Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass.) and sophomore Joanne Robery (Plainville, Mass.).

The Buccaneers will be idle until next Saturday morning when Massachusetts Maritime travels to Worcester, Mass. to take on WPI and Pine Manor in a non-league tri-match that begins at 11:00 a.m.  Worcester State heads to Leicester, Mass. on Thursday evening for a non-league outing with Becker that begins at 7:00 p.m., while MCLA will take on Elmira in opening round play of the SUNY-Oneonta Invitational next Friday afternoon in Oneonta, N.Y. beginning at 2:00 p.m.
