CASTINE, Maine --  The Massachusetts Maritime volleyball team dropped a pair of 3-0 non-league decisions to both Merchant Marine and host Maine Maritime in second round play of the 2010 Maritime Classic on Sunday afternoon at Margaret Chase Smith Gymnasium.

Senior Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass.) registered seven kills and seven digs in the setbacks for the Buccaneers (1-10), who fell to Merchant Marine’s Mariners (4-5) by game scores of 25-7, 25-9 and 25-11 and to host Maine Maritime’s Mariners (5-5) by game scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-13.  Freshman Kelly Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.), who was named to the Maritime Classic All-Tournament Team for her efforts on the weekend, added six kills and 10 digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received four kills and 13 digs from sophomore Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.).

Senior Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass.) added 15 set assists in the two outings Sunday for the Buccaneers, who last night ended a 55-match winless streak that dated back to October 17, 2006 with an opening round 3-0 victory over New York Maritime behind eight kills each from Presutti, Marino and sophomore Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime travels to Brookline, Mass. on Tuesday evening to take on Newbury in a non-league match that begins at 7:00 p.m.
