BRIDGEWATER, Mass. --  Junior Shelly DePina (New Bedford, Mass.) registered nine kills and five service aces to lift Bridgewater State to a 3-0 victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-5, 25-6 and 25-9 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both schools Wednesday evening at the Tinsley Center.

Senior Kristina Campbell (Taunton, Mass.) added seven kills and four digs in the triumph for the host Bears (2-3, 1-0 MASCAC), who also received 13 set assists from freshman Melanie Appleman (Hyannis, Mass.).

Freshman Kelly Lyons (Pocasset, Mass.) notched a pair of kills, three service aces and three digs in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (0-8, 0-1 MASCAC), who also received six digs from sophomore Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.).

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Castine, Maine on Saturday evening to take on New York Maritime in opening round action of the 2010 Maritime Classic beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Bridgewater State travels to Norton, Mass. on Saturday morning for a non-league tri-match with Mount Holyoke and host Wheaton that begins at 11:00 a.m.
