BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Junior Rachel Murphy (Wallingford, Conn.) registered eight kills and nine service aces to lead Salem State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.
Freshman Jazmin Santos (Lawrence, Mass.) added six kills in the triumph for the visiting Vikings (5-14, 1-1 MASCAC), who prevailed by game scores of 25-6, 25-10 and 25-11. Sophomore Ali Williams (Deerfield, Mass.) chipped in with eight service aces for Salem State, which also received 10 set assists from freshman MacKenzie Carpenter (Peabody, Mass.) as well as six assists and nine service aces from junior Jazmin Barrows (New Bedford, Mass.).
Senior Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass.) notched a pair of kills and three digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (1-18, 0-6 MASCAC), who also received a kill and four set assists from senior Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass.) as well as a kill each from sophomores Alex Burgess-Chrost (Leominster, Mass.) and Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.).
Massachusetts Maritime will be idle until Saturday, October 23rd when the Buccaneers host Curry and Wentworth in a non-league tri-match at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Salem State entertains Worcester State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Thursday evening in Salem, Mass. that begins at 7:00 p.m.
