FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 4, ANNA MARIA 1

PAXTON, Mass. --  Freshman Jacob Crawford (Rockland, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist for three points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 4-1 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Anna Maria Wednesday evening at Amcat Field.

Crawford staked the visiting Buccaneers (4-8) to a 1-0 edge just 4:10 into the match after converting a feed from junior Zach O’Neil (Scituate, Mass.) for his second goal of the season, and junior William Taylor (Hanover, Mass.) extended that margin to 2-0 in the 15th minute with his first marker of the fall that was set up by Crawford.  The host Amcats (1-11-1) sliced that margin in half in the 31st minute when sophomore Ryan Todesco (Southwick, Mass.) tallied off a feed from senior Derrick Casey (Worcester, Mass.), but Massachusetts Maritime iced its triumph with a pair of second half scores that came on an own goal in the 59th minute and freshman James Roland’s (Fairfield, Conn.) first career marker in the 71st minute to account for the final margin.

Junior Connor Murphy (Mashpee, Mass.) earned his first win of the season and his second career triumph over Anna Maria by making one save in 88-plus minutes of play in goal for the Buccaneers, while freshman Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass.) and junior Mark Robinshaw (Ashford, Conn.) combined for four stops in the setback for the Amcats.  Massachusetts Maritime outshot Anna Maria by a 13-5 margin overall (8-2 on goal) and held a 13-2 edge in corner kicks for the contest while earning its sixth straight triumph in the series between the two schools.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Framingham State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Anna Maria heads to Providence, R.I. on Saturday afternoon to take on Johnson & Wales in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference contest that begins at 2:30 p.m.
