Gordon Field, Waltham, Mass.

FINAL:              #12 BRANDEIS 3, MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 0

WALTHAM, Mass. --  Senior Patrick Flahive (Chatham, Ill.) scored a pair of goals to lead 12th-ranked Brandeis to a 3-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Gordon Field.

Flahive gave the host Judges (5-1) the only tally they would need by converting a feed from fellow senior Josh Ocel (North Attleboro, Mass.) just 10:37 into the contest, and senior Mike Lynch (Weymouth, Mass.) extended that margin to 2-0 in the 60th minute on a pass from sophomore Jake Warren (Medway, Mass.).  Flahive’s penalty kick conversion with 3:43 remaining closed out the scoring for the night, and senior Ben Woodhouse (Suffield, Conn.) earned the shutout in goal with a pair of saves for last year’s national semifinalists.

Senior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) made eight saves in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (2-4), as Brandeis outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 22-6 margin overall (11-2 on goal) and took all five corner kicks on the evening.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Salem State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing on Friday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m., while Brandeis travels to Medford, Mass. on Friday evening to square off with Tufts in a non-league clash that begins at 7:00 p.m.
