NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. --  Senior Austin Dias’s (Smithfield, R.I.) penalty kick conversion in the 56th minute proved to be the game-winner and lifted UMass Dartmouth to a 1-0 non-league college men’s soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday evening at Cressy Field.

Dias’s successful penalty kick came just over 10 minutes after intermission and held up as the golden goal for the host Corsairs (3-4-1), as freshman Mike Tranghese (Monson, Mass.) made four saves to record his first collegiate win and shutout in net for UMass Dartmouth.  Senior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) recorded a pair of stops in suffering the setback in goal for the visiting Buccaneers (2-8), who held a 17-11 advantage in shots for the evening (4-3 on goal) as well as a 4-3 edge in corner kicks for the contest.
