Rouette, Beaulieu & Taylor Named As 2017 Massachusetts Maritime Men's Soccer Tri-Captains

The Massachusetts Maritime men’s soccer team is seeking its fifth straight post-season berth this fall, and as Head Coach Greg Perry prepares for his 25th campaign on the Buccaneer bench, the veteran mentor has tabbed a trio of his upperclassmen to serve as tri-captains in 2017.

Seniors Mick Rouette (Three Rivers, Mass./Monson) and Chris Beaulieu (Carver, Mass./Carver), along with junior William Taylor (Hanover, Mass./Hanover), will serve in those leadership roles for Massachusetts Maritime, which posted seven victories and advanced to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference semifinals for the third time in four years last fall.  Perry, the dean of MASCAC mentors, describes his captains as “leaders by action who continue to uphold and strengthen the tradition of our program.  They know my expectations, but they’ve set higher ones for themselves and their teammates both on and off the field.  They will continue to represent our program and the Academy with great pride.”

A three-time first team all-MASCAC back for the Buccaneers, Rouette chipped in with three goals and an assist for seven points on the offensive end a year ago, while Beaulieu started in 16 of 18 matches played and collected a marker and two helpers for four points from his backfield spot.  Taylor, who was named as the MASCAC Player of the Week last October 24th after notching a goal and an assist in a 2-0 victory at Framingham State, finished second on the team in scoring in 2016 with four goals and three assists for 11 points in 16 outings.

Massachusetts Maritime opens its 2017 schedule on Saturday, September 2nd with a non-league match at Suffolk that begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT.
