FINAL:              MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME 1, COAST GUARD 1 (DOUBLE OVERTIME)

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Sophomore Adam Crawford’s (Kingston, Mass.) goal with 2:15 remaining in regulation lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 1-1 non-league double overtime tie with Coast Guard in a college men’s soccer match played Tuesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.

Crawford’s header from in front of the net off of senior Mick Rouette’s (Three Rivers, Mass.) direct kick provided the equalizer for the host Buccaneers (5-8-2), who extended their unbeaten streak to four straight with the draw.  The visiting Bears (8-4-2) had taken a 1-0 advantage in the 60th minute of play when sophomore Brock Hassett (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored from 20 yards out on the left side of the net to set up Crawford’s late heroics, as the tie was Massachusetts Maritime’s third in 27 series meetings with Coast Guard and first non-setback since a 1-0 2013 home triumph.

Senior Mike Pruchnik (Rochester, Mass.) matched his season-high with 13 saves, including eight first half stops and two more in the second extra session, for the Buccaneers, while sophomore Dakota Harich (New Market, Md.) made eight saves in the tie for the Bears.  Coast Guard outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 22-17 margin overall (14-9 on goal), but the Buccaneers held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Bridgewater, Mass. on Saturday afternoon to take on Bridgewater State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference outing beginning at Noon, while Coast Guard entertains MIT in a New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference clash on Saturday afternoon in New London, Conn. that also begins at Noon.
