BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Seniors Chris Annunciata (Waltham, Mass.) and Brett Miller (Windham, N.H.) each netted hat tricks to lead Plymouth State to a 12-5 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The visiting Panthers (2-1) netted the first four goals, including a pair off the stick of Annunciata, to take control of the contest in the opening 10-plus minutes of play, and a man-up marker from Miller midway through the second stanza sparked Plymouth State to a 6-2 edge at the break.  After the squads traded scores in the opening 4:05 after intermission, the visitors iced their triumph with five unanswered tallies over a nearly 18 minute span in the third and fourth quarters, as Annunciata and Miller completed their respective hat tricks while junior Nick Morello (North Billerica, Mass.) chipped in with a man-up goal.

 

Sophomore Phil Pichel (Hopkinton, Mass.) added a pair of goals and an assist to finish with three points in the win for the Panthers, who also received a marker and helper each from Morello, senior Zach Frank (Wakefield, Mass.) and junior Aaron Boss (Keene, N.H.).  Freshman Nick Pino (North Andover, Mass.) also tallied on the day for Plymouth State, which received two assists each off the sticks of juniors C.J. Frates (Merrimack, N.H.) and Mike Trocchi (Danvers, Mass.).

 

Junior Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass.) and freshman Sam Jarvis (Laurel Springs, N.J.) each netted a goal and an assist in the setback for the host Buccaneers (3-1), who also received tallies from sophomores Anthony Kurylak (Exeter, N.H.) and Reed McLean (Wilbraham, Mass.) as well as a marker from freshman Patrick Kearney (Scituate, Mass.) and a helper from junior Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.).

 

Senior Jesse Kutz (Hopkinton, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Plymouth State with eight saves over the opening 53-plus minutes of play, while junior Chris St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) made one stops in the last 6:47 of action.  Senior Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) made three first half saves in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which received five stops in the final 30 minutes of play from freshman Keison Cunningham (Weymouth, Mass.).  The Panthers outshot the Buccaneers by a 42-22 margin for the contest and controlled the draw by winning 16 of 20 faceoffs on the afternoon.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Wentworth in a non-league outing on Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Plymouth State will be idle until next Wednesday, March 26th when the Panthers travel to Portland, Maine to take on Saint Joseph’s (Maine) in a non-league match that begins at 4:00 p.m.
