Freudenberg Named As NEWMAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player Of The Week

Massachusetts Maritime junior attack Dylan Freudenberg was named as the New England Women’s & Men’s Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week on Monday afternoon for his efforts in leading the Buccaneers to the championship of the inaugural Maritime Cup over the weekend at Maine Maritime.

A native of Islip, N.Y. and a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School, Freudenberg was named as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after netting eight goals and five assists for 13 points in the two rivalry contests, including a hat trick and three assists in a 13-5 Admiral’s Cup victory over the host Mariners last Friday evening to go with a career-high five goals and two helpers in a 15-11 second round triumph over SUNY-Maritime.  He added seven ground balls and three caused turnovers while shooting 90 percent on the weekend.

Freudenberg’s efforts helped Head Coach Rory Deegan’s squad remain unbeaten on the young season at 3-0, as Massachusetts Maritime is off to its best start in program history.  One of the Buccaneers’ four captains this spring, Freudenberg tops the team scoring list with nine goals and five assists for 14 points to date.

Deegan’s crew will look to continue its hot start on Tuesday afternoon when Massachusetts Maritime begins a 10-match homestand by entertaining Plymouth State in a non-league outing at Clean Harbors Stadium that begins at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
