BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Junior Drew Prowse (Wakefield, Mass.) netted a pair of goals and a career-high five assists for seven points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 13-1 non-league college men’s lacrosse victory over Anna Maria Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium.

 

The host Buccaneers (4-2) jumped out to a 6-0 halftime advantage in collecting the first 12 scores of the contest, as sophomore Anthony Kurylak (Exeter, N.H.) added a hat trick and an assist to finish with four points for the winners, who also received a hat trick off the stick of junior Dylan Freudenberg (Islip, N.Y.).  Freshman Sam Jarvis (Laurel Springs, N.J.) notched a pair of markers on the day for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received a goal and an assist from sophomore Reed McLean (Wilbraham, Mass.) as well as single tallies off the sticks of freshman Ryan Kearney (Scituate, Mass.) and Steven Anderson (Crownsville, Md.).  Sophomore C.J. Hanson (Melrose, Mass.) chipped in with a pair of assists for the Buccaneers, who also received a helper from freshman Ryan McNeill (Burlington, Mass.).

 

Sophomore Lucas Stralka (East Greenwich, R.I.) scored the lone goal of the day on a feed from freshman David Poirier (Agawam, Mass.) in the setback for the visiting Amcats (1-6), as senior Paul Painten (Walpole, Mass.) picked up the win in goal with five first half saves for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received two second half stops from freshman Keison Cunningham (Weymouth, Mass.).  Freshman Franco Francioso (Walpole, Mass.) made 15 saves on the day for Anna Maria, as the Buccaneers outshot the Amcats by a 47-14 margin and forced 36 turnovers.

 

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Salem State in a non-league outing on Wednesday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m., while Anna Maria travels to New Haven, Conn. on Wednesday afternoon to take on Albertus Magnus in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match that begins at 3:00 p.m.
